Opera 10.50, akankah menjadi web browser tercepat di dunia?

Baru saja (2 Maret 2010) Opera merilis web browser versi terbarunya, Opera 10.50. Rilis browser ini mungkin sedikit berbeda dengan sebelumnya, karena kali ini Opera menampilkan dengan menambahkan slogan “The world’s fastest browser for Windows” atau Browser tercepat di dunia untuk Windows. Juga “The fastest browser on Earth“

Slogan tersebut memang membuat penasaran, selain juga berbagai fitur baru turut disertakan seperti HTML5, CSS3 dan lainnya.

Kaya dengan Fitur

Tidak dipungkiri lagi bahwa web browser ini memang kaya dengan fitur dan memang siap untuk menjadi browser kedepan. Beberapa fitur Opera 10.5 antara lain:

• Opera Turbo, untuk mempercepat browsing internet dengan koneksi internet yang relatif lambat atau terbatas. Misalnya di jaringan WiFi yang ramai dan koneksi modem dial-up

Test Kecepatan Browser

Penasaran dengan slogan “The world’s fastest browser”, saya mencoba membandingkan secara singkat kecepatan membuka beberapa website (kompas.com, microsoft.com dan wikipedia.org), dengan web browser lainnya seperti Mozilla Firefox 3.6, Google Chrome 5.0.335.1 dan Interner Explorer 8. Hasilnya (dengan setting bawaan), ternyata Opera masih terlihat sedikit lebih lambat dibanding lainnya.

Tetapi hasil test ini mungkin masih jauh dari akurat, karena dipengaruhi berbagai faktor dan selain juga namanya test singkat. Jadi kita tunggu saja review dari berbagai media dan pengguna internet, apakah memang Opera pantas menyandang sebagai browser tercepat. Avast 5.0: Penampilan baru, kinerja baru ..

Setelah banyak ditunggu, tidak hanya pecinta Antivirus Avast, tapi juga pengguna antivirus gratis, kemarin (19 Januari 2010) Avast merilis versi Antivirus terbaru, Avast 5, termasuk Avast Free Edition. Win7codecs 1.2.9 Final

The Win7codecs package which I have created does not change or interfere with what Microsoft has going on concerning native codec support in Windows Media Player 12 and Media Center.
DXVA accelerated H264 playback is provided by the codec package for all other capable players.

The latest release contains a new Settings Application which enables the user to choose a different splitters ‘on the fly’ for specific filetypes. If you’re a pilot, there are many ways Google Earth can be used to really enhance your trip plans both from an aviation and ground-based perspective. But, Google Earth goes way beyond just trip planning as a tool for pilots. I’m a pilot myself, and have been using Google Earth to enhance my flying experiences for nearly three years.

Tips : How to Get 3D Buildings in Google Earth Flight Simulator
1. Enter Flight Simulator mode – Select “Tools->Enter Flight Simulator”. Optional: fly to a city which has 3D buildings (tip: San Francisco, Baltimore, Atlanta, Raleigh, Charlotte – these all have lots of 3D buildings). NOTE: – there is a bug in GE 4.3 if you select the “Current View” option in the “Enter Flight Simulator” window, you may end up at an higher altitude than you expect upon starting the flight (much higher). Just fly back down to the city level.
2. Open the Sidebar – Sidebar shortcut – Press ‘Ctrl + Alt + B’ (or + Option + B’ on the Mac) to bring up the sidebar
3. Turn on 3D Buildings – Turn these on in the Layers pane in the lower left after the sidebar opens.
4. Turn Off Sidebar – IMPORTANT – before resuming the flight simulator, turn off the sidebar by hitting the sidebar shortcut from step 2
5. Resume flight – Now you can resume flying the flight simulator by hitting the SPACE key and the 3D buildings should stay on for your current flight.
